The former standout player at Harrisburg High School was shot after a pickup game at a park in North Carolina.

The 27-year-old fought for five days through an open heart surgery and a leg amputation. He died on Friday evening.

According to Huntersville police, officers responded to a shooting at North Mecklenburg Park on Aug. 29 at 6:15 p.m.

There, they found McIntyre with a single gunshot wound that he suffered after an argument during the pickup game, police said.

They said a suspect, described as a light-skin black male with dreads in a ponytail and slim build, was wanted in connection with the incident.

The athlete graduated from Harrisburg in 2012. According to PennLive, he averaged 24.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and five assists per game as a senior and finished his career with the Cougars with 1,186 points.

McIntyre went on to play four years for High Point University, where he studied business administration.

More than $12,000 was raised for the athlete on a GoFundMe as of Wednesday.
